Here are more exercises of making questions. Before doing it, see the examples within.

1.      CHANGE THE SENTENCES INTO (A) YES-NO QUESTIONS, and (B) NEGATIVE. 
      (See example at no. 1)



  1. That is a new student.  [ A. Is that a new student?  / B. That is not a new student.]
  2. There is a picture on the wall.
  3. There are some apples in the basket.
  4. He is my nephew.
  5. I collect rare butterflies.
  6. The cat is black.
  7. The pencil belongs to Jack.
  8. The books belong to your sister.
  9. The Sedona Hotel overlooks the sea.
  10. The guests checked out yesterday.
  11. You should go to the dentist.
  12. The man will leave for Jakarta tomorrow.
  13. Jane can speak Javanese.
  14. She has to type the letter now.

2.        CHANGE THE SENTENCES INTO QUESTION TAG.

  2. There isn’t a clock on the wall.
  3. Her name is Mary.
  4. The pen belongs to Paul.
  5. Those horses belong to Mr. Hartono.

3.   CHANGE THE SENTENCES INTO WH-QUESTIONS SO THAT THE UNDERLINED      WORDS WOULD BE THE ANSWERS. USE QUESTION WORDS: WHO, WHOM, WHOSE, WHAT, WHAT TIME, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, HOW, HOW WELL, HOW OFTEN, HOW MANY, HOW MUCH, HOW LONG, HOW OLD, HOW FAR, HOW TALL, HOW LARGE, HOW DEEP, HOW BIG, HOW WIDE, etc.

  1. Mr. Hill checked in at nine o’clock.
  2. The guest will go to Tanjung Bira tomorrow.
  3. I go to SMANSA Makassar.               [Where do you go to school?]
  4. I am in year 12 now.
